10 Secrets To Know You?re A Good Working Parent To Your Kids!
|
How are parents to know they are doing the right thing for their children when they are working parents? Many parents feel guilty for the amount of time they are spending at work versus the amount of time they spend with their children. If you are questioning yourself, trust that you do need to take a closer look at what you are doing.
We all want to feel and know we are loved. Children are no exception. I believe that when we parents let our children know they are safe, secure, valued and loved, then they have the most precious thing we can give them.
As a working parent, here are ten ways to help you to know whether you are spending enough time with your children. If you don't recognize many of these or don't know what I'm talking about, you're in trouble!
1. You work to feed your family, not your ego.
2. Your own self-development has led you to be willing to devote your time to the development of your children.
3. You know that lots of money will never replace lots of love.
4. Lots of "stuff" doesn't ever replace lots of attention.
5. Lots of classes by the best teachers will not replace what you teach by your own design and actions.
6. Knowing and teaching your personal ethics and values to your children takes priority over teachers' or caretakers' ideas of the same.
7. The most valuable title you hold is that of "Mom" or "Dad."
8. Keeping and creating family traditions has renewed importance and appreciation.
9. Your child's laughter is the most precious music to your ears.
10. "Time out" is you taking some extra time to spend with your kids.

Friends Are A Gift You Give Yourself
My oldest boy is fifteen and was a real jerk about a month ago. He had gotten pretty full of himself and acted like he was too cool for the rest of the family. Pretty typical teenager behavior, but I didn't like it. I had gotten to the end of my patience with him and laid into him about how lousy it felt to be treated that way. We ended up in a huge fight. He argued that he wasn't acting any different than normal and that I was just choosing to see things negativel...(related: Parenting)

Homeschooling Takes Your Child Out Of Public School --- A Unique Benefit
Home-schooling removes children from public school. That alone makes home-schooling worthwhile. Unlike public-school children, home-schooled kids are not prisoners of a system that can wreck their self-esteem, ability to read, and love of learning.Home-schooled kids don't have to read dumb-downed text-books, study subjects they hate, or endure meaningless classes six to eight hours a day. Introduction To The Medications Used In The Treatment Of Attention Deficit Disorder
There are several treatment options available to help improve the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Since there is no prescription medicine that can "cure" for ADHD, the various medical interventions seek to improve symptoms. The most commonly used medicines are stimulants, such as Ritalin, Dexedrine, Cylert, and ADDerall. Stimulants have been around for about 50 years. Overall, they work very well. Ritalin and Dexedrine are moderately beneficial, or very beneficial, for about 70% to 75% of those who try them....(related: Parenting)
How To Teach Your Children Self-reliance And Potential
Self-reliance and potential are two very important values that I'd highly recommend parents teach their children.Self-reliance refer to the acceptance of responsibility for and the consequence of one's own actions and performance. It is so common to see people blame luck, circumstance or someone else for things that are not up to expectation. If a person want to be successful, he must take responsibility of his action and results, whether it is a positive or not so positive result.Potential means trying to be one's best self and asking the best from oneself. It also refer to the conscio...(related: Parenting)

You Dont Need A Supernanny To Be An Active Parent
The hot new reality TV show "Nanny 911" has been joined by a similar nanny-to-the-rescue show called "Supernanny." These shows depict families in which the children are extremely out of control, rebellious, spoiled or otherwise quite a handful. The nannies come in for a week (from sunrise to bedtime each day), helping the family get back on track by teaching the parents effective parenting skills and modeling these skills firsthand with the children.I have to admit to having only seen one episode of "Nanny 911," but, speaking as a parenting educator, I was impressed. The nanny sent to the rescue knew her stuff. She taught the parents to set limits, how to discipline using logical consequences and how to be firm and calm at the same time. She was good enough--and here's a hug...(related: Parenting)

Be aware. You may become totally overwhelmed when you get the results of the special education testing on your child. There is a lot of "stuff" on that report! And much of it sounds like a foreign language to many people.

Q. "What do you want to be when you grow up?"A. Childrens Safety In Public Places - 10 Useful Tips
My kids ask me all the time to take them to playgrounds or any other public place. I can't help to think that the risk involved in this is greater than we are often aware of. Actually, I feel that I am a little traumatized. My 8 year old...(related: Parenting)
